Zhou, Shao Feng, M.D., FASA is Professor at Department of Anesthesiology, McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. Texas Medical Center at Houston, Texas. She is also director of aortic anesthesia and co-director of joint clinical research of cardiothoracic and vascular anesthesiology, surgery and perfusion.  Secretary General of International Chinese academy of Anesthesiology (ICAA). Dr. Zhou received her medical education from China Medical University in 1983.  Her junior resident training at Peking Union Hospital, and then at China-Japan Friendship Hospital.  She joined the Department of Anesthesiology, UT Medical School at Houston in 1998.  She is board certified Anesthesiologist by the ABA and Fellow of American College of Anesthesiologist specializes in cardiothoracic and vascular anesthesia. She is a full clinical practitioner, educator and a clinical researcher.  Dr Zhou was awarded many time of outstanding teacher and awarded clinical research funding. Dr. Zhou clinical expert in major aortic surgery such as ascending aortic repair surgery (aneurism or type A dissection) with deep hypothermic circulatory arrest or Thoracic abdominal aortic aneurism repaired surgery. Her book  "Core Topic of Aortic Disease-Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment" , it is consists of 8 sections and 51 chapters including from basic theory to clinical research, progress in genetic and imaging diagnosis, management of anesthesia, bleeding and coagulation, treatment by traditional and/or  Interventional surgery, intensive care and postoperative rehabilitation, etc. it is systematic introduction of the diagnosis and treatment of aortic diseases.

Her research interests in organ protection in major aortic surgery, specifically in blood protection and conservation, as original creator: the mortified technique in autologous platelet rich plasma transfusion (aPRP) plays an important roles to reduce blood transfusion in aortic surgery as well as improving clinical outcome in this setting.  Dr. Zhou’s current research interests include blood conservation, cerebral protection, inflammation reaction with deep hypothermic circulatory arrest in aortic surgery and their clinical outcomes.
