In the past, I studied the pathophysiology of AIDS, contributing to HIV discovery, showing its tropism and cytopathic effects for CD4 T cells1 and identifying CD4 as its receptor
Nowadays, my main activity is to advance translational research in Immunology. As a Professor of Immunology and Director of the Biotherapy Department at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital and Sorbonne University medical school, I built-up a global organization that allows discovering and developing biotherapies from bench to bedside.
My current specific interests and research activities are:
Fundamental immunology
I study the development, repertoire and function of T cells, with a special focus on regulatory T cells (Tregs) and systems immunology approaches.
Physiopathology
I study the role of Tregs in immune related diseases.
Biotherapy
I develop molecular and cellular Treg-based immunotherapies. I notably pioneered the use of low-dose IL2 as a Treg agonist for the treatment of autoimmune diseases
